"Beginning of Sentences"
I took this photo of Laura about a year ago...
I'm going to do a shoot with her again, soon....
Someone sent me a message yesterday, a guy no less, who wants to shoot eventually: "Love your shots! You have a very creative and whimsical meets edgy/romantic meets the best part about reality style... Haha. Mouthful."
I guess I could agree with that description. I've been shooting for about 2 years now, before that I had no real impetus to "frame a shot" which does take some conscious effort...I'm just kinda drawn to certain locations, people and things...and I've always loved clothes (fashion); I even had a Vogue subscription about 10 years ago, that kept renewing itself ;)
Back to yesterday: I decided to update my Model Mayhem portfolio to include a few from my last shoot; there where a couple tricky decisions but for the most part it was easy deciding what to add and what to take out (btw somethings just don't work in terms of how a Model Mayhem portfolio is designed, but thats fine, its another way of seeing your work and maybe even getting some insights; thats also why i blog tons of pictures)...I'm slowly realizing which direction to take...but there are a few photos, even recent ones, that I would add a twist too; perhaps in terms of styling, or what the model is doing in the picture - I still included them because they r-o-c-k ;) but they are really just, "beginnings of sentences."
I learned a lot doing this past shoot... Maybe I was a bit to ambitious shooting three different locations, it could have been a two-day shoot (or something) with more time spent at each location and more latte breaks... At the end, seven hours into the shoot at the aquatic center the sky was not to my liking for what i originally had in mind; I wanted the sun high in the sky or at least at my back - so i had to do things different and use a bit of flash... oh well.... Afterward, even during, at times, I was brained dead and mumbling, driving to drop off the model and MUA, I might have even cut-them-off midway in conversation and forgot to apologize i-m-m-e-d-i-a-t-e-l-y like your suppose to; the brain synapses weren't firing correctly; i'm apologizing now, as I reflect one week after the fact:)

We are all always learning when we shoot. That's why we all work so much. one thing doesn't go quit right so then we can change it for the next time and so on and so on. So no need to apologize because it's what we all do.
thanks princess!
